The Medical Assistant academic course will teach students all the skills necessary to administer clinical and administrative procedures in a medical office. Medical Assistants are vital personnel in a medical office, hospital or medical center. Trained to assist in administrative, patient care and laboratory functions, medical assistants can certify in many specialized areas.
The program’s main objective is to teach medical skills such as performing venipunctures, conducting EKGs, assisting during medical examinations, laboratory technician skills, and administrative functions as well. Administration functions include patient record keeping and reception room management.
Bright Outlook occupations are expected to grow rapidly in the next several years, will have large numbers of job openings, or are new and emerging occupations. Employment of healthcare occupations is projected to grow 19 percent from 2014 to 2024, much faster than the average for all occupations, adding about 2.3 million new jobs. Healthcare occupations will add more jobs than any other group of occupations. This growth is expected due to an aging population and because federal health insurance reform should increase the number of individuals who have access to health insurance.
Medical Assistant graduates will be thoroughly prepared for employment in a doctor’s office, both general practice as well as a specialty practice, and other health care facilities. They will be prepared to effectively perform tasks assigned or delegated by a supervising doctor in both front and back office procedures.
The median annual wage for healthcare practitioners and technical occupations (such as registered nurses, physicians and surgeons, and dental hygienists) was $63,420 in May 2016, which was higher than the median annual wage for all occupations in the economy of $37,040. Healthcare support occupations (such as home health aides, occupational therapy assistants, and medical transcriptionists) had a median annual wage of $27,910 in May 2016, lower than the median annual wage for all occupations in the economy.

The E.D.P. School begins contacting our students between 60-180 hours after the completion of the program. At this time, we request information on students current employment status and if students have not yet obtained a position within their field, the school assists with job placement initiatives. We calculate our job placement rates by dividing the number of placed students with number of students enrolled in the program. There are currently no GE disclosures as we only recently began enrollment for this program. Please check back for additional data in the upcoming year.
